Entry level touring motorcycle segment is on the rise as two-wheeler makers are shifting their focus on the pocket friendly products. Currently, that segment of the Indian two-wheeler industry is occupied by Royal Enfield Himalayan while other players such as KTM, BMW Motorrad and UM Motorcycles are busy developing a product of their own. Even Kawasaki is reportedly planning to introduce a quarter-litre highway hauler variant of its Versys series.

Suzuki too has joined the race as it unveiled a new quarter-litre tourer concept at the 2016 China International Motorcycle Trade Exhibition, the DL250. The concept motorcycle proudly donned the V-Strom badge on its beaky fairing. The V-Strom 250 gets an unmistakable V-Strom family silhouette with that beaky fairing and rugged bodywork. Similar to the V-Strom 650, the quarter litre tourer gets alloy wheels and conventional telescopic suspension upfront. However, unlike the V-Strom 1000 and V-Strom 650, the headlight on the V-Strom 250 is spherical.

Will we see a proper, off-road spec variant? While there is no official statement about any such variant, it would not be completely incorrect to expect a XT badged model with wired spoke wheel sharing the space with the standard V-Strom 250.
