2016 Porsche 911 (10)

The newest Porsche 911 range, in all its turbocharged glory, will be launched in India on June 29. Officially referred to as the “991.2”, the mid-cycle makeover brings in subtle stylistic changes, and, the first time in 911 history, the employment of turbo-charging across most of the range. With 370 hp and 420 hp from their turbocharged 3.0-litre engines respectively, the new Porsche 911 Carrera and Carrera S have become faster – the Carrera sprints from zero to 100 kph in 4.2 seconds, while the Carrera S achieves the same in just 3.9 seconds. Transmission choices include the capable PDK automatic, along with a 7-speed manual.

Other highlights include an updated Sport Chrono Package with four driving modes, standard PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management), optional active rear-axle steering, and a “Sport Response Button” for maximum acceleration for 20 seconds. The new 911 Carrera models also feature a development of the Porsche Communication Management System (PCM) including Online satellite navigation and voice control as standard, which includes a seven-inch display which recognizes multi-touch gestures. Also new is the option of connecting an iPhone to the PCM to use Apple CarPlay.

New assistance systems include an optional automatic speed control, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), an optional Lane Change Assist and a multi-collision braking system as a standard feature. Other standard equipment on every 911 Carrera includes leather interior, sports seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, Bi-Xenon headlights, Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), Porsche Stability Management (PSM), tyre pressure monitoring, and Porsche Vehicle Tracking anti-theft system.
