ASUS unveiled the Reco Smart, a multipurpose dash cam which can double as a portable camera. Primarily designed for in-car use this device is equipped a host of features for a little creative photography.
The ASUS Reco Smart features a f/1.8 aperture lens, Sony sensor, wide-dynamic-range(WDR) technology. The f/1.8 aperture on the lens enables the Reco Smart to record details in low-light environments; while the WDR tech improves image/video quality under high-contrast lighting conditions. The Full HD 1080p Sony sensor is capable of delivering good daytime and night-time recording quality at a frame rate of 30. The lens on the RecoSmart has a 150 degree Field of View(FOV), it is wider than most of the dash cams currently available in the market. The wide-angle lens provides unobstructed view of the road ahead.
RecoSmart has a motion-detection parking monitor mode, which can be engaged to detect movement in front of the vehicle it is installed in without manual operation. The parking monitor mode automatically starts recording a video and continues to do so until senses no movement for one minute.
Another handy feature on this dash cam is the Emergency file backup. At the time of a collision the three-axis G-sensor on the Reco Smart sets off an emergency record and lock function in order to protect video files. The device is also equipped with a manual emergency-record button that lets the driver to save video footage in case the driver witnesses an accident. The manual button can also be programmed to send out a text message to a assigned contact.
Reco Smart not only fulfills the dash cam duties but can also be used for; it creative photography. For the creative junkie the Reco Smart features a Photo Burst and Time Lapse modes to capture and create innovative images.
The ASUS Reco Smart can be connected to any smart phone(iOS or Android) via Wi-Fi with the ASUS Reco app. Users can preview, download, or share images and videos with the app. Settings like resolution and G-sensor functions can be easily set up via the Recoapp. NFC Engage ensures easy device pairing. Reco Smart comes with 500GB of ASUS WebStorage. Reco Smart has a 58mm filter ring and 1/4-inch screw mount to ensure compatibility with tripod mounts, filters, and other standard camera accessories. A waterproof Reco Smart camera housing is also available.
