Ahead of its world premiere at the Goodwood Festival of Speed on June 24, the hardcore Mercedes-AMG GT R has been leaked. Essentially a more track focused, sharper version of the GT range, the AMG GT R features angrier bodywork, Hulk’s body paint, and a sportier suspension setup, apart from of course, more power.

The AMG GT R will sit above the regular GT and the GT S variants, which, rated 456 hp and 503 hp respectively, aren’t pedestrian performers by any means. Affalterbach’s take to compete with the likes of Porsche’s 911 GT3 RS and McLaren’s 675 LT will employ an upgraded version of the twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine to produce 577 hp. That, along with a modified 7-speed, dual-clutch transmission ensure that the hulking GT R hits 100 km/h in a mere 3.6 seconds, 0.2 seconds faster than the Mercedes-AMG GT S.

The front grille now bares its vertical fangs that are inspired from the AMG GT3 racer, while a wider track,  larger, stickier tires and a fixed rear wing will make it more of a track tool than an Autobahn stormer. The sportier interiors seem to be Alcantara and leather trimmed, along with bright yellow accents provided by the seatbelst and the AMG lettering on the sports seats. More details about the AMG GT R are awaited, so stay tuned!
