Engine details of the Mahindra NuvoSport leaked ahead of its launch

India’s SUV specialist, Mahindra is all set to launch the all-new NuvoSport for the Indian market on 4th April 2016. Set to replace the Quanto, the NuvoSport will be another sub-4 metre compact SUV from the Mahindra stable. Just a week ahead of its launch, the engine details of the vehicle have been revealed through leaked images of what it seems to be a technical specification sheet that is submitted by a vehicle manufacturer to Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI).

The sheet displays the specifications of the range-topping seven seater NuvoSport N8 mHawk BS4 model with a two-wheel drive train. The Mahindra NuvoSport will be powered by a 1493cc, three cylinder BSIV compliant engine from Mahindra’s mHawk family that drives the vehicle in two modes. In the Power mode, the engine can deliver 100 BHP at 3,750 rpm and a maximum torque of 240 Nm between 1,600 and 2800 rpm. Once switched to Economy Mode, the engine produces 71 BHP at 3,250 rpm and 180 Nm of torque between 1,600 and 2,100 rpm. Though a 5-speed manual transmission is specified, earlier spy images also confirm the presence of an AMT.

Mahindra NuvoSport Engine Details

With the new powerplant and improved dynamics, the NuvoSport is claimed to provide better performance than the outgoing Quanto. The upcoming SUV has received a whole lot of design upgrades, refreshed interiors and an updated engine setup. In the Indian market, the NuvoSport will go head-on with the Ford EcoSport and the recently launched Vitara Brezza.     The NuvoSport is have six variants spread across four grades, namely the N4, N4+, N6, N6 AMT, N8 and N8 AMT. Bookings are open at IBB
