Earlier this month, we posted that the new Skoda Octavia India launch will fall happen on October 3 and now images of the new car, parked in the dealership stock yard, have surfaced on the web world. Nothing surprising, considering that the car is only little more than a couple of days away from officially entering our car market.
The new Octy will be launched in India with thee engine options. The engines on offer would consist of two petrol motors and one oil burner. The car will be sold in three trim levels- Active (base), Ambition (mid) and Elegance (top).
Following are the three engines that will be offered with the India spec Octavia:
- 1.4 litre TSI Turbo Petrol engine that also powers the cousin Jetta
- The 1.8 TSi Turbo Petrol engine from the Laura
- The 2.0 TDi Turbo Diesel engine, again from the Laura
The 1.4TSi Petrol engine has a max power of 140PS and comes mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. This engine has a peak torque of 250Nm, while the fuel economy is being claimed to be 16.8kmpl. The Octy 1.4 will be available only in Active and Ambition trim levels.
It may be noted that the 1.8TSi motor, which has been carried over from Laura vRS, now makes 180PS (versus 160PS for the Laura) and also has a peak torque of 250Nm. The engine also gets a new 7-speed DSG box with Tiptronic function. The claimed fuel efficiency for this motor is rated at 14.7kmpl. This 1.8 TSi will be sold only in the Elegance trim.
The 2.0 Litre diesel motor will have 143PS of max power for the Octy, a full 3PS more than what it delivered for the Laura. Torque, however, remains the same at 320Nm. The transmission options would include both a 6-speed manual and a DSG box. Claimed fuel efficiency for manual-gearbox variant is 20.6kmpl and is 19.3kmpl for the DSG equipped variant. The manual transmission equipped Octy diesel will be available only in Active and Ambition trim and the DSQ equipped car will be available in Ambition and Elegance trim level. It is being speculated that the top end DSG equipped variant would have an ex showroom price of INR 17.6 lakhs.
The top end Elegance trim boasts of features like- rear decklid spoiler (for 1.8 TSI only), Bi-Xenon headlights, LED DRLs, tyre pressure monitoring, front park sensors, side and curtain airbags, Bolero audio player with 5.8 inch color touchscreen, sunroof with remote control, electrically adjustable driver seat with memory function and lumbar support, retractable screen for rear windscreen, storage compartment under front passenger seat, and cruise control.
The new Octavia will be launched with following color options- Brilliant Silver, Candy White, Cappuccino Beige, Magic Black, Rio Red (new), Metal Grey (new), and Race Blue (remember the tasty blue shade from Laura vRS?).
