After many speculations and spy images later, the Yamaha M-Slaz 150, or the MT-15, finally made its debut at the ongoing Thailand Auto Expo. The MT-15, tagged as the M-Slaz 150 for certain markets, is a street fighter based on the YZF-R15 Version 2.0 and borrows certain elements from its faired sibling such as the famed deltabox frame and the 149cc single cylinder engine.

The motorcycle was earlier spotted at a promotional event in Thailand, revealing various design elements. However, launch images reveal even more details, most importantly the ignition system. Contrary to earlier rumours, the M-Slaz will not get a keyless ignition system and the key slot will be placed on the fuel tank. But the ignition switch is a interesting bit as the switch starter has been borrowed from the bigget MT series motorcycles such as the MT-09 and MT-07.

The M-Slaz will draw power from the same motor that propels the Yamaha YZF-R15. Performing the task will be 4-stroke single cylinder SOHC 4-valve water cooled engine. Performance figures weren’t mentioned on the official website but the technical specifications, including the bore, stroke and compression remain identical to YZF-R15 and thus the M-Slaz will put out 17PS of power at 8,500rpm and 15Nm of torque at 7,500rpm.

Much of the technical specifications were leaked earlier today and the only thing that we awaited was the price tag. The Yamaha M-Slaz comes at a price tag of 89,500 Thai Baht which works out to about Rs 1.66 lakh. The motorcycle will be available in four colour options. The India launch, however, isn’t likely to happen in the foreseeable future.
