With the shattering performance put up at Pikes Hill Climb in June last year- pipping the Ducati Multistrada to the finish line by a huge 20 second margin, the planet’s fastest production motorcycle finally goes on sale. But before getting down to the price figures- the numbers that come along with the Lightning LS-218 electric superbike are a must read which might make it easier to conclude as to whether the cost is justified.

At the heart of the Lightning LS-218 is a liquid cooled 150 kw+ electric motor that unleashes a crazy 200 bhp of max power and 228 nm of peak torque. Though the engine can spin uptill 10,500 rpm- power and torque from an electric motor is available right from 0 rpm onwards. All this power and torque is capable enough to send the 225 kg motorcycle from 0-100 kph in less than three seconds with a top speed of 350 kph. Below is a video of the LS-218 doing its top speed run at the Bonneville Salt Flats. Claimed range on a 12kwh battery is 160 kilometers (100 miles) on a single charge.
