The top three contenders in five different categories for the World Car of the Year Awards were announced at the Geneva International Motor Show. The announcement is another link in the chain which would culminate with the announcement of the winners at the New York International Auto Show (NYIAS) on March 24, 2016.
Year 2016 marks the 10th anniversary of the partnership between World Car and the New York Auto Show. This is also the third time in a row when the World Car Awards have been ranked the number one automotive awards worldwide, in terms of media reach.
The top three finalists for five distinct categories were chosen by a jury of 73 international automotive journalists. The final list was prepared based on secret ballot, where each judge chose his finalist based on his experience with the car. The international accounting firm KPMG tabulated the jurors’ ballots.
