It has today emerged that Volvo India might start showcasing the Volvo V40 Cross Country at its dealerships next month. The news comes straight from Geneva, where a senior Volvo official informed our friends at IAB about the new car’s advent in India.

The new car will go on sale in our car market in July. It is being said that new Volvo V40 Cross Country will target luxury car users for becoming their second or third car. The V40 makes a lot of sense as a city runabout. The V40 Cross Country is basically meant for young Indian car buyers who wish to have a luxurious with small dimensions and an eye catchy styling.

The V40 Cross Country rides 40 mm higher than the std. V40. The five-door premium car comes with SUV inspired design details such as anodized, black high-gloss frame around the greenhouse, the black rear-view mirror housings and the sleek rails floating over the roof.

On the inside, the car comes with 40/60 rear seat rear seat and the load compartment can be equipped with a practical hanging load net. The front passenger seat too can be folded forward to create luggage more space. The car also has a storage compartment below the armrest and this compartment comes with a connector for USB/iPod and AUX.

For international markets, the V40 Cross Country gets an All Wheel Drive system for the T5 turbo petrol motor. The five-cylinder 2.5-litre T5 engine has a max power output of 254 hp and peak torque figure of 400 Nm. This variant comes with an automatic transmission and has a claimed 0-100 km/h acceleration figure of 6.1 seconds. The T5 variant is also available with a 2.0-litre engine that has a max power-torque figure of 213 hp-300 Nm.
