Is there a Volkswagen Vento CNG in Pipeline?

It is a very well known fact that Volkswagen India, the Indian subsidiary of German auto giant, won’t launch any new car till 2015. This means that cars such as the much hyped Up! hatchback are still sometime away from making it to Indian car market. However, Volkswagen India will be seen launching various new variants of the products it already sells in India. While the Polo recently got the Cross Polo variant, the Vento sedan might soon be launched with a CNG option.

Visually, the Vento CNG will look bog similar to the petrol and diesel variants, with CNG stickers and badges being the only addition to the natural gas powered variant. The CNG option might be provided in entry level variants only, which would lead to the car sporting non-body coloured ORVMs and door handless, no foglamps and steel wheels.

Currently, the Vento is being sold with petrol and diesel engine options, with the latter bringing in the major chunk of sales. The Vento CNG has been spotted testing on numerous occasions and here we have spy pics from a couple of such sightings.

Volkwagen India hasn’t yet confirmed its plans of launching the Vento CNG but an Auto Expo 2014 debut can’t exactly be ruled out.
