It has emerged that German auto giant Volkswagen is working on bestowing its highly popular Polo hatchback with a mild facelift. An undisguised Polo facelift was recently spotted in China and as these spy pics reveal, the car will sport some minor visual changes when compared to the current model.

The refreshed Polo’s front bumper boasts of horizontal slates at its air dam. It may be noted that currently, the Polo’s front bumper has a honeycomb mesh. The foglights too seem to have become smaller in size and they get a new L-shaped housing. The facelift seen here also gets revised headlamps that get clear lens treatment instead of the black tints on the current Euro-spec models. While the car’s front end gets quite a few minor visual changes, the rear seems to have been left untouched.

There are very good chances that this facelift is coming to us and in India, the Polo could very well be the first VW model to get the botox injection. In most international markets though, these design changes are likely to make their debut on the Golf Sportsvan.

It is expected that the upcoming Volkswagen Polo facelift will go on sale in Europe towards the middle of 2014 and would try and enable the current gen car to look fresh for another couple of years, before the advent of the all new generation model.

What do you feel? Are these minor visual changes sufficient to endow the Polo hatchback, which is fast getting dated, with some freshness? Do share your views by penning your thoughts in the comments section below.
