The Volkswagen Ameo made its global debut at the 2016 Auto Expo in Delhi last month and the compact sedan, based on the Vento, will come with a smaller boot as compared to this sibling. Powering the Ameo will be a 1.2 litre petrol engine and a 1.5 litre diesel engine with the latter coming mated with an automatic transmission as an option. The rivals to the Ameo include the Honda Amaze, Ford Figo Aspire, Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire, Hyundai Xcent and the Tata Zest. The front fascia of the Ameo has been borrowed from its sibling, the Vento, although one can notice a few tweaks from its conventional design.
The rear profile of the Ameo is where the majority of the changes lie. A smaller and re-designed boot with the number plate recess resembling that from its family member, the Skoda Rapid. The tail lamps also gain a completely new look and shape.
The steering wheel as well as the steering mounted controls have been carried over from the Vento.
Seen here is the touch-screen multimedia music system and HVAC controls
The interiors receive a dual tone theme of beige and black interiors.
The dual pod clusters separated by the digital display that houses the warnings functions and sits below the turn indicators.

The rear cabin is similar to that of its sibling, the Vento. The rear AC vent is a new addition though.
The 1.2 litre petrol engine comes mated to a 5 speed manual transmission.
The 1.2 litre MPI engine produces 75 PS of power and 110 Nm of torque.
