India’s electric two-wheeler market continues to expand, with VLF, a European electric mobility brand, announcing its debut in the country. The company has introduced the VLF Tennis electric scooter as its flagship model for the Indian market. The launch was part of a larger event by MotoHaus, the distribution partner for VLF and several other international brands.
VLF Tennis: Aimed at Urban Commuters
The VLF Tennis is designed as a compact, eco-friendly solution tailored for urban commuters. Combining style with functionality, the scooter offers a competitive range and features suited for daily city travel. Manufactured in India through MotoHaus’s facility in Kolhapur, the Tennis is priced starting at ₹1,29,999 (ex-showroom).

The scooter is available with a 2.5 kWh removable battery and a motor rated at 2.1 kW of power. The powertrain delivers a top speed of 65 km/h with a claimed range of 130 km per charge. Lightweight construction enhances maneuverability, with the scooter weighing just 88 kg. Key features include a 5-inch TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity, three riding modes (Eco, Comfort, and Sport), 12-inch alloy wheels, and a double-sided aluminum swingarm for enhanced stability and durability. Production and Expansion Plans
MotoHaus operates a modern manufacturing setup in Kolhapur with an annual production capacity of 20,000 units. This facility not only supports VLF’s local assembly but also ensures competitive pricing. The brand is launching alongside premium retail outlets in major cities, including Mumbai, Bangalore, and Pune, with plans to establish 20 dealerships by mid-2025.

Growing Focus on Electric Mobility in India
The entry of VLF aligns with the increasing demand for electric two-wheelers in India. With government incentives and a growing focus on reducing emissions, the market for electric scooters has seen significant growth. VLF aims to leverage this trend by offering a product that combines European design aesthetics with practical features for Indian consumers.
A Broader Offering from MotoHaus
While the VLF Tennis headlines this launch, MotoHaus is also introducing motorcycles from Brixton Motorcycles, another European brand. This includes models like the Crossfire 500X and Cromwell 1200, catering to enthusiasts of rugged and retro-modern bikes.

Challenges and Opportunities
VLF’s entry into India marks a bold move in a competitive space dominated by established local and international players. The brand’s success will likely depend on its ability to address challenges such as robust after-sales support, competitive pricing, and an expanding charging infrastructure.
By positioning itself as an eco-conscious, design-focused option, VLF hopes to carve a niche in India’s evolving electric two-wheeler landscape. Pre-bookings for the Tennis are already open, with initial deliveries expected by December 2024.
