Station Wagon variants of sedans haven’t ever managed to register good sales figures in the car market of our country. The Tata Indigo Marina, Opel Corsa Swing, Fiat Sienna Weekend, Suzuki Baleno Altura, Skoda Octavia Combi, etc. None of these estates could ever leave an impression on Indian car buying lot. However, estate variants of some of the popular sedans have been doing well in European markets and most car manufacturers make sure to launch an estate variant soon after coming out with a new sedan in Europe.
Regulars here would remember that we reported in detail when Skoda unveiled the 2013 Skoda Octavia Combi (estate) variant of the new Octavia through a set of images. Now, we the Czech car maker has published a video of the Combi before it makes its public debut at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show.
The new Skoda Octavia Combi comes with a wheelbase that is 11cms longer than that of its predecessor and 7.3cms of the increased wheelbase goes into enhancement of rear leg space. Overall, the car is longer than the current model by a good 90mm and is wider by 45 mm. The car has a giant boot space of 610 litres and this can be increased to 1740 litres by folding the rear seats. Even the front passenger seat can be folded down to further increase the boot space.
Powering the new Octavia Combi will be the same motors that will be launched in the new sedan. This means that the Combi too will have a set of TSI petrol motors and a pair of TDI oil burners.
