Tesla recently unveiled a new product for the international market, namely the Model 3. The company has now gone ahead and launched a face-lift for the Model S. This update will be the first one for the Model S since its launch in the year 2012. Some of the major changes include a Model X inspired face (or the lack of one), and the addition of the BioWeapon defense mode air filtration system.

Though they look very similar in design, the Model S looks even sleeker due to the lower profile over the Model X. The revised look keeps the Model S modern in appearance, but subtle enough that it still remains true to its original contour and body lines. Also improved on the exterior are the headlights that now feature adaptive LED headlamps which adjust according to the curvature of the road. This is standard equipment found on the Model X but also seen on the Model 3 prototypes.

On either side one can notice the body coloured rocker panels that have replaced the conventional panels. Towards the posterior, the tail lamps of the Model S seem to have been given a smoked effect that adds to the overall aesthetic appeal of the vehicle. Another noteworthy change would be the side markers which now receive the paintjob seen on the body of the Model S.

One update that easily goes unnoticed is the relocation of the front facing radar. Because of the new grill-less design of the Model S, the Tesla design team had to move the radar up from the bottom grill to the open space behind the Tesla emblem. This not only helps with functionality because of a higher mounting position with potentially less obstruction, but the new hidden location makes the car look a heck of a lot better.

Coming to the interiors, the Model S facelift receives a number of updates. The company has included a standard center console that looks to be the same one from the Model X. Also on offer now are two wood trim finished for the interior namely Dark Ash Wood and Figured Ash Wood.

Claimed to remove 99.97% of exhaust pollution particles, the new air filtration system also removes most of the allergens, contaminants and bacteria. The engine and its specifications remain the same with the only exclusion being the vehicle’s charger that has been updated by 8 amps taking it to a total of 48 amps.
