Regulars here would remember that we reported when some details on the upcoming Volkswagen Vento TSI surfaced on the web world yesterday. Now, we have come across some more dope on the soon-to-be-launched petrol variant of the Vento sedan.
For those who came in late, the Vento TSI is being developed on the lines of the nee VW Polo GT TSI and will be powered by the same 1.2 litre TSI petrol motor. The Vento TSI will be based on the highline variant and other than the TSI badge on the bootlid, there will be little else to differentiate it from the regular variants.
As we said above, the Vento TSI is powered by the same 1.2 TSI engine that powers the GT TSI and this means that the upcoming Vento will have a max power of 105PS @ 5,000rpm and a peak torque of 175Nm between 1,500 and 4,100rpm. The engine will come mated to a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission. Unfortunately though, peddle shifters will be conspicuous by their absence.
It has emerged that the Volkswagen Vento TSI will have an ARAI rated fuel efficiency of 16.93 kmpl and it is being said that VW India will position the Vento TSI against the Honda City AT, Hyundai Verna AT, Skoda Rapid AT and Suzuki SX4 AT. Also, our personal opinion is that the car could become an interesting option for those who don’t have the budget for VW Jetta 1.4 TSI and new Skoda Octavia 1.4 TSI.
The Volkswagen Vento TSI India launch would happen late next week and the car could go on sale for an ex showroom price of about INR 10.7 lakhs
