Skoda first showcased the refreshed version its compact SUV, the Yeti, at the 2014 Auto Expo in Delhi. Now, the Czech car manufacturer is all set to launch the 2014 Yeti in the Indian car market on September 10. The new Yeti is Skoda’s attempt to place a product against Renault Duster and Ford EcoSport.
In terms of looks, the new Yeti sheds off the curvy headlights and now dons new sporty and aggressive unit which adds to the rugged look of this compact SUV. It also receives redesigned fog lamps. The 2014 Yeti will also get new alloy wheels.
The new 2014 Skoda Yeti will receive a 2-litre TDI engine which will come in two states of tune. The 4X4 variant will churn out 140PS of power and 320Nm of torque and will be clubbed with a 6-speed manual transmission. The 4X2 variant will put up 110PS of power and 250Nm of torque and come along with a 5-speed manual transmission. We hope Skoda also offers an automatic transmission variant soon. The new Yeti receives hosts of safety features as standard including ABS, Electronic Brake Distribution, Electronic Stability Program and Traction Control.
On the inside, the 2014 Yeti receives a touchscreen stereo that offers various connectivity options like USB, Aux-In, Bluetooth, iPod/iPhone and SD card reader. Other features include a multifunctional steering wheel, electronically adjustable driver seat, climate control and much more.
We feel that Skoda will price the new 2014 Yeti a tad higher than the outgoing version so expect the prices of the entry level model to hover around Rs 15.5 lakh mark. The top end 4X4 model is likely to be priced in Rs 18-19 lakh range.
