It’s all about Euro-4 compliance with newer motorcycles and thus KTM may equip the Super Duke R with the Euro 4-compliant motor of the 2016 1290 Super Duke GT. The changes on the 1301cc V-twin engine include a re-designed exhaust and cylinder head. These updates are claimed to have pushed the peak power of 173hp higher to 9,500 rpm. The updated motor is also said to have brought down the peak torque of 144Nm at 1,000 revs lower and now available at 6,750rpm. The 2017 KTM 1290 Super Duke R is also expected to receive enhanced electronics.
