Upcoming 2014 Toyota Corolla to be Showcased at the Delhi Auto Expo

We have reported several times when the 2014 Toyota Corolla was caught while testing. Now, according to a report by IAB, top-level Toyota sources have confirmed that this car will be showcased at the Delhi Auto Expo in February. Also, according to the report, the 2014 Corolla’s unveil event would be more of a showcase. The official launch of the car is expected to happen much later.

The new 2014 Corolla sports a stylish LED headlamps, which are far more stylish than those we see in many cars on sale today. The car also gets a new set of 17-inch alloy wheels that sport twin-spoke design. Also, it may be noted that the India spec Corolla comes equipped with “not-so-stylish” 15-inch alloy wheels. Overall, the car definitely looks several generations ahead of the current Corolla Altis.

This 11th generation Corolla is revealed in two versions – American and European. India will be receiving the European version. Production of the European version has commenced at a new factory in Sakarya, Turkey from the month of July. The American version production commenced at the Blue Springs plant located in Mississippi, in early August.

The India spec Corolla will retain the same engine and transmission options. A 1.4 litre diesel engine that produces 88.4 PS of power and 205 Nm of torque, and the 1.8 litre VVT-i petrol engine, which is mated to 6-speed manual and CVT box producing 140 PS and 173 Nm. Toyota is focusing on fuel efficiency with these engines. The CVTi-S automatic transmission has been upgraded to deliver better fuel efficiency figures.
