The 2014 Mercedes-Benz C Class has been caught testing on numerous occasions. However, none of the spy pics give a clear indication of what the car might look like.
Now, what we have here today is an image that might very well be of the next generation C Class that is scheduled to arrive next year.
The image shows that the car will sport CLS-inspired headlights that will be wider and positioned above than the ones on the current car. From what can be made out from the image, the grille of the new car seems to be a tad oval in shape. In our opinion, the front end of the new car looks a lot sportier than that of the current model.
The new C is based on the MRA platform and is likely to be 100mm longer with overall length being around 4700 mm. At 2820 mm, the new car’s wheelbase is 80 mm longer. The 2014 Mercedes C Class could weigh just 1,380 kgs.
Engine options for the new car will consist of four-cylinder and V6 vertically mounted engines, with output rangin from a mild 184 hp to a very powerful 330 hp. A hybrid engine with a 27 hp electric motor is also in the pipeline. Following the launch of the standard variants will be the AMG model which will have a 5.5-litre V8 engine.
The 2014 Mercedes Benz C Class is expected to be roomier than both the Audi A4 and the BMW 3 Series. Also, the car is expected to be a lot more fun to drive with a sportier steering and suspension set up.
Stay tuned for more details.
