Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) has announced its year on year sales numbers for the month of April. HMSI claims of becoming the “Highest Volume & Market Share gainer in April, 2015”. HMSI recorded 9% growth by selling 340,791 units (Domestic and Exports both), versus the negative growth of 4% of two-Wheeler industry. HMSI’s sales crossed 41,000 units on Akshay Tritiya in a single day, recording 50% sales growth YoY over last year.
While the motorcycle business suffered in year on year sales for the month of April, positive growth in scooter sales and exports helped Honda deliver good numbers. The motorcycle business witnessed a marginal fall. The total motorcycle sales for the month of April 2015 stood at 1,31,291 versus 1,31,377 units during corresponding month last year. The scooter sales rose from 1,70,589 units in April 2014 to 1,97,801 in April 2015.
In the month of April, Honda’s Domestic Market share went up by 2%, attaining 25.6%, while Domestic and Export market share reached 23.5% (3% up). Volume sales went up by 26,785 units (Domestic+Exports) as compared to 57,697 units of industry sales that dropped.
