Riding on a wave of some exciting all-new products, TVS reported its economic results for the previous fiscal year of 2018-2019. The company witnessed total sales of 39.14 lakh units during the financial year, which resulted in a 19.3% increase in revenue to Rs 18,217.5 crores (excluding Excise Duty / GST). One of the primary reasons for the company’s growth is also credited to the successful launch of their budget motorcycle, the TVS Radeon.
In terms of quarterly performance, TVS has reported a growth of 9.2% in total revenue, from Rs 4,016.8 crores in the 4th quarter of 2017-18 to nearly Rs 4,387.6 crores in the 4th quarter of 2018-19. The Company also reported Profit Before Tax (PBT) of Rs. 183.9 crores and Profit After Tax (PAT) of Rs. 134.3 crores for this quarter. The EBITDA (Earnings Before Interest, Tax, Depreciation and Amortization) for the 4th quarter of 2018-2019 is Rs 308.1 crores compared to the previous year’s Rs 295.2 crores, showing a growth of almost 4.4 %.
In terms of yearly performance, the total revenue for the year recorded a growth of 19.3%, which is an increase from Rs 15,274.4 crores in the previous financial year to Rs 18,217.5 crores this year. The operating EBITDA increased from Rs. 1,175 crores during the previous year to Rs 1,433.3 crores in the recent year registering a growth of almost 22%. The overall two-wheeler sales of TVS Motor Company, including exports, grew by 11.6%, while Motorcycle sales grew by 15% and Scooter sales grew by 14.6%. Three-wheeler sales increased drastically by 57.6%, while the total exports recorded a growth of 32.8%.
During the entire financial year of 2018-2019 TVS won many awards like the Two-Wheeler Manufacturer of the Year Award at Car and Bike India Awards 2019 and Excellence in Business Performance at The Economic Times Awards. In the scooter segment, they won the Scooter of the Year 2019 awards from Autocar, Bike India and Times Auto Awards. TVS bikes also won many awards like the Radeon won the Bike of the Year, 125cc Commuter Bike of the Year, while the TVS Apache RR 310 won Bike of the Year (400cc) at the Car and Bike India Awards 2019.

TVS also bagged the prestigious awards for Corporate Excellence and Corporate Social Responsibility at the CII-ITC Sustainability Awards 2018. It was also awarded the Green Era Award for Sustainability & Quality and Business Excellence Award at the International Awards by Otherways Management & Consulting, France, along with the Best CSR initiative (Two-Wheeler) award at Autocar India Awards 2019. All these awards and recognition played an important role in boosting the sales of TVS in India, and it also helped them strengthen their position globally.
