Triumph Motorcycles Thruxton R launched in India: Complete details, images, prices and tech specs

Triumph Motorcycles India has launched the Thruxton R at a price tag of Rs. 10.90 lakh (Ex-showroom, Delhi). The cafe-racer was showcased earlier this year at the 2016 Auto Expo before the company announced its launch earlier this week.

Powering the Thruxton R is the 1200cc 8 valve, parallel twin Bonneville engine. This engine features a lighter crank, higher compression and a bespoke airbox. With the company’s ride-by wire fuel-injection, fed by twin throttle bodies, the engine delivers a peak torque figure of 112Nm at 4950 rpm, 62% more than the previous generation. Power is sent to the rear wheel with the help of a 6 speed gearbox.

A few notable chassis components of the Thruxton R include twin floating Brembo discs, racing Brembo monobloc calipers, Brembo master cylinder, fully-adjustable Showa big piston forks, fully adjustable Ohlins twin rear shocks and Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa tyres. Additional features on the model include ABS, Ride-By-Wire with three rider modes, traction control, slip clutch assist, headlamp with a LED DRL, LED tail light, USB charging socket and an engine immobilizer. The Thruxton is available in two colour options, Diablo Red and Silver Ice.

The café-racer also receives a pair of new twin upswept exhausts with reverse-megaphone end cans. The exhaust on the model is finished in brushed stainless steel. The makers say, “With sporting ergonomics, clip-on bars, fully adjustable suspension and a 17 inch front wheel, the new Thruxton R is said to deliver a thrilling ride.”

The Thruxton R was launched in the presence of Bollywood actress Gul Panag . The well-known rider today added the Bonneville T120 to her collection of motorcycles. Vimal Sumbly, the Managing Director for Triumph India formally handed the keys of the motorcycle to the actress at an event held in Mumbai.
