Images that surfaced on the web suggest that the vehicle in the images is a new MPV from the house of Toyota, expected to be christened as the Toyota Calya. The model will be reportedly positioned as a LCGC (Low Cost Green Car) in Indonesia where it is expected to be launched first. The name ‘Calya’, which is said to be derived from Sanskrit, means ‘Perfect’ or ‘Flawless’.

Once launched in the Indonesian market, the Calya is likely to be positioned below the Toyota Avanza and above the Toyota Agya on which the model is based. Not much is known about the powertrain options but a report went on to suggest that the MPV could be powered by the 1.2 litre petrol engine as seen in the Etios. A look at the rear profile of the Calya suggests that it has been inspired from the new Innova, known as the Kijang Innova in Indonesia. According to the Indonesian regulations, an LCGC should deliver a minimum fuel economy of 20 km/l for a gasoline engine with the displacement in the range of 980cc-1200cc.
