Toyota Century SUV Teased Ahead of Global Debut: Full Reveal On Sept 6

Toyota has given us a glimpse of their upcoming Century SUV, a name synonymous with luxury and opulence. The big reveal for the Toyota Century is scheduled for September 6, 2023.

Adding to the Luxury Collection

Toyota’s new luxury SUV will join the existing Century sedan in their lineup. While the sedan has only been available in Japan, the Century SUV is going to be sold in various countries around the world. This move is similar to what they did with the Crown brand, which you can find in places like North America now.

Toyota Century Designed for City Life

The Century SUV is built on a special platform that’s also used for the Toyota Grand Highlander SUV. This means it’s made for driving in the city rather than off-road adventures. It’s made with chauffeur-driven passengers in mind, so it’s all about providing a comfortable ride. Moreover, It’ll be roomy and loaded with nice features, aiming to give you that fancy feel you get from SUVs like the Range Rover and Bentley Bentayga. It’s expected to be about 5.2 meters long, maybe even having three rows of seats.

No V12 For The Toyota Century SUV

The Century sedan has a big V12 engine, but the Century SUV will be different. What’s more, it’s going to use a mix of petrol and electricity to power it. Think of it like a really fancy hybrid. It might have a 2.5-liter engine and two electric motors, making a total of 243hp. Or they might go with a 2.4-liter engine and an electric motor, giving it a total of 362hp.

Could We See It in India?

Toyota and Lexus tend to introduce their fresh models to the Indian market shortly after their global debut. They followed this strategy with the Vellfire and are gearing up to do the same with the upcoming Lexus LM MPV. Given the current trend favoring large SUVs, it’s a logical move for Toyota to unveil the Century brand in India with an SUV. This could be their strategy to take on other high-end luxury SUVs like the Range Rover and Mercedes-Maybach. By offering a sophisticated and potent choice, Toyota aims to cater to the Indian audience’s penchant for luxury automobiles.
