The New 2014 Audi A8 – This is IT

VW Group owned German premium car maker Audi released the details of the much awaited 2014 Audi A8 flagship sedan today.

The front fascia of the updated Audi A8 is characterized by the much publicized Matrix LED lamps. The most commendable bit about these new headlights is that their high beam function can be used continuously without having to blind the drivers of oncoming vehicles. This is because the projectors are connected to a camera, which detects the line of vision of the oncoming car’s driver and switches off the diodes that fall in the line. However, the remaining part continues to remain on high beam.  Along with the Audi Matrix LED lights, the car also gets the company’s new turn signal technology, new bumper, revised hood and an updated grille.

When seen in profile, the car remains bog similar to the outgoing model. The only little change comes from the new set of alloy wheels.

At the rear, the car features a chrome strip running across its bootlid and the dual exhaust pipes get the rectangular treatment. The rear end also gets an updated bumper which features some more chrome.

On the inside, the updated A8 gets a three spoke steering as standard across all the variants. The car also gets numerous color and trim options. The car’s updated MMI connects to the internet via UMTS module and makes the car a WLAN hotspot.

The new 2014 A8 also gets updated adaptive cruise control with Stop&Go function, updated Audi pre-sense safety system, updated night vision and Audi side assist.

Talking about the powertrains, the 3.0 liter TDI diesel and the 3.0 liter & the 4.0 liter TFSI petrol engines have been carried over from the current model. Ditto for the gigantic W12 6.3 liter for the top of the line variants. However, the engines have been tuned to deliver better fuel efficiency and lesser emissions.
