RTA M wallet app

Telangana: RTA launches M-Wallet, lets you keep your RC book and license on your phone

RTA M wallet app

Carrying your vehicle documents has always been a concern for a number of motorists. The fear of papers being lost or destroyed keeps running in the mind of the owner every now and then. Is there any solution for the same? Well, the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) of Telangana has a very simple solution.

A mobile application known as m-Wallet has been unveiled by the RTA in Telangana which will enable the user to save a soft copy of his license as well as the RC book of his vehicle. Reports suggest that the app will eventually come with a facility of storing the insurance data as well. The same for the PUC remains a question that has not been addressed as yet but we hope the authorities integrate it into the app soon. The app is currently available on the android as well as the iOS platform.

Registration on the app will require one to fill in their respective name, e-mail id and mobile number. The app will later send a One Time Password (OTP) via text message that would be used to authenticate the number.  The user will then be able to sign and make use of the app. The app also has a demo for new users who are not used to the app or its interface

To register the RC book, one has to enter the registration number as well as the last five digits of the chassis number. For the license, the user would have to enter details such as license number, date of birth, and then select the RTA under which it is registered.  The user will later be able to share the RC book details with family members or friends by providing their mobile number.

The app will prove to be a boon for users as they wouldn’t have to carry the physical copies of the papers while travelling.  The initiative, a part of the ‘Digital Telangana’ program stands to benefit 60 lakh license holders and 80 lakh vehicle owners in the state. The move will be appreciated by users and is a good start to an otherwise long way till we reach complete digitization. We eagerly await for the app to come out under other state RTA’s as well.
