Tata Tiago EV Grabs 10000 Bookings: Introductory Prices Extended

The recently launched Tata Tiago EV has been well received by customers. The Tiago EV was launched at an introductory price of Rs. 8.49 lakh to Rs. 11.79 lakh(ex-showroom) for the first ten thousand bookings. Bookings were opened at noon on Monday, 10th of October and the booking numbers raced passed the 10k mark on the first day itself. Celebrating its success, the company has decided to extend the introductory prices for another ten thousand customers across the country to further encourage the auto industry’s electrification journey. Just like before, 2000 bookings out of this will be reserved for the existing Tigor EV and Nexon EV owners.

Extending the introductory offer, Mr Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd., and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd., said, “We are delighted with the overwhelming response to the Tiago EV and thank our customers for embarking on the EV journey. To acknowledge the passion to go EV and to firmly support the mass adoption of EVs we have decided to extend the introductory pricing to an additional 10,000 customers.”

With the launch of the Tiago EV, Tata Motors says it has now completed the first phase of its three-step electrification journey, and thus, the Tiago EV will be the last Generation-1 EV from the firm. Gen-1 EV is an EV made by converting an existing ICE car platform to carry the batteries and the electric motor for an electric car. The Tiago EV comes with two battery pack options in different variants. The smaller 19.2kWh battery comes in the base XE and XT with its electric motor giving out 61hp and 110Nm while the larger 24kWh battery produces 74hp and 114Nm. The larger battery pack is also an option in the XT variant but the XZ+ and XZ+ Tech Lux variants only come with the 24kWh unit.

The Indian automaker is leading the sales chart of electric four-wheelers in the country and also has the most electric vehicles under its portfolio. The Tiago EV will be showcased across all major malls in the month with test drives for the customers beginning in late December. The company is expected to commence deliveries of the EV from January next year with the larger 24kWh battery-equipped models being prioritized as the company wants to meet customer expectations of its new offering. The top models of the Tiago EV sports some premium features rarely seen in cars of this class such as rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlamps, cruise control & full leatherette upholstery making it all the more tempting for its buyers.
