Tata Motors sells 40,883 vehicles in August 2014

Tata Motors’ managed to sell 40,883 vehicles in August 2014, which includes passenger cars, commercial vehicles as well as exports. The numbers show a decline of 18% over 49,611 vehicles sold in August 2013. Also, in August 2014, Tata Motors has managed to shift 36,403 vehicles in the domestic market, excluding imports- indicating a 19% decline over 44,717 vehicles sold in August last year.

Cumulative sales (including exports) for the company for the fiscal are 190,476 nos., which points out to a 25% decline over 254,355 nos., sold last year.

Commercial vehicle sales from Tata Motors in August 2014 stood at 25,428 nos., showing a 23% decline compared to 33,153 commercial vehicles sold in August last year. LCV sales were 16,287 nos., a decline of 35% over August last year, while M&HCV sales promised a 11% growth at 9,141 units, as compared to August last year.

Cumulative sales of commercial vehicles in the domestic market for the fiscal were 126,682 nos., lower by an alarming 28% over last year. Cumulative LCV sales was 80,658 nos., a decline of 37% over last year, while M&HCV sales stood at 46,024 nos., lower by 7% over last year.

Passenger vehicle sales dwindled, as August 2914 saw the company dispatch 10,975 units- a 5% decline over 11,564 vehicles sold in August 2013. Sales of the passenger cars in August 2014 were 8,229 nos., again lower by 6% over 8,761 vehicles sold in August last year. Even utility vehicles faced the brunt, with 2,746 units sold in August 2014, a decline of 2% over 2,803 nos., sold in August last year.

Cumulative sales of passenger vehicles in the domestic market for the fiscal stood at 44,724 units, indicating a sharp decline of 21% over last year. Cumulative sales of the passenger cars this fiscal was 33,450 nos., lower by 25% over vehicles sold last year.  The utility vehicles sales stood at 11,274 nos.- a 7% decline over 12,116 nos., sold last year.
