Tata Motors receives largest ever single order of 1314 trucks from India’s largest fleet owner

Tata Motors has received its largest ever single order for commercial vehicles from Siddhivinayak Logistics Ltd. (SVLL), to supply 1,314 trucks to be delivered during the financial year. The order coincided with the launch of an innovative scheme by SVLL, meant for the well-being of their drivers, called ‘Chalak se Malak’.

The order includes two recently launched products, the New Tata PRIMA 4923 – LX and the Tata LPT 3723, the first 5-axle rigid truck in the country.

Based in Surat, SVLL is India’s largest fleet owner, with a fleet size of over 4,000 commercial vehicles. The company operates across diverse segments, like steel, cement, tractors, chemicals, machinery, and is a pioneer in new segments like commercial vehicle chassis carriers.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. R. C. Baid, Founder and Chief Mentor, Siddhivinayak Logistics Ltd said, “We have been using Tata vehicles for decades and are pleased with the quality, engagement and after-sales services. We appreciate the commitment by Tata Motors in helping us become a specialist and India’s fastest growing surface transport company. Through this order we further strengthen our relationship with Tata Motors.”

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Vinod Sahay, Head – Sales & Marketing, Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicles, Tata Motors, said: “We are delighted that our association with M/s. SVLL continues unabated. We are honoured to receive this prestigious order and are committed to deliver these vehicles this fiscal year. We thank the company for their continued trust and patronage of our brand”.

The New Tata PRIMA 4923 – LX is from the new 230 HP range of PRIMA trucks, was launched to extend the PRIMA advantage to many more transporters who require a lower power-to-weight ratio. These vehicles are fitted with a Cummins ISBe electronic engine with common rail injection, for efficient fuel injection. This comes with India’s first indigenously developed 9-speed gearbox from Tata Motors with an overdrive function which provides superior fuel efficiency. These vehicles are also coupled with a 430 mm diameter organic clutch and 10-T rear axle to deliver a balanced and robust drive train. The Tata PRIMA LX cabin comes with an optional AC, 4 point suspension for reduced vibration and double sleeper bunks to provide maximum comfort to the driver.

The Tata LPT 3723 is the first 5-axle rigid truck in the country and will be the next big game changer in the Indian commercial vehicle industry. This truck can carry around 4.5 tonnes more than the existing 31 tonne MAV (Multi-axle vehicle) segment. As a result, it is all set to radically change the economics of transportation in multiple segments by reducing the cost per Tonne-Km of transportation. It is powered by a Cummins 6BT 5.9L engine (155 kW power at 2500rpm), twin steerable front axles, a twin-drive axle and a tag-lift axle: the only truck to have such a technology, reducing tyre and fuel costs. The turning circle diameter of 21.9 metres makes it more manoeuvrable.

  1. Dear Tata Team
With reference to appended mail, we are heartly thankful for your support for engine replacement of our TATA PRIMA. I want to put-up a serious matter about tyres of our PRIMA with the some details as cited below.
    Vehicle No. RJ19-GE-0025
Modal No. PRIMA 4028.S manufactured in year 2010.
    Date of registration : 22/04/2014
    Chasis No. MAT707002A3E09393
Total running counter – 40000 Km approx.
We have suffered a lot due to regular problems in tyres of our PRIMA since purchase. A total No. of 18 tyres we have replaced till date with the cost of replacement was beared by me only, even the tyres was covered company guaranty as per policy. All tyres is having same type of defect that first swell out and then bulge with deterioration on shape and finally bursted which is manufacturing defects) I have suffered a Rs. 25000/- per tyre for replacement with an uncertainty of occurrence i.e. in between the route of transportation that adds additional loss due to penalty imposed by transporter and parties due to delay of approx 5-6 days in delivery at destination.
I was assured the full guaranty of engine, chassis body and tyres etc at the time of purchase. But when the defects in tyres was being appeared the guaranty terms was violated by your company. It is very surprisingly that your company’s Sales Manager Mr. Vishesh Verma has refused to replace the defected tyres without explaining the reason. We have faced the same type of fault in other tyres and gradually 18 tyres we have replaced on my own cost. Presently two nos of tyres mounted in vehicle is swelled and same they are unusable any more i.e. need replacement.
I had owned Tata 3516 ( R. No. RJ19 GE 2525 which was loan free) prior to PRIMA. This was purchased as planned to expand my business. But now I have to sell Tata 3516 for compensating the PRIMA’s maintenance cost. The PRIMA is taken up on load from Indusind Bank with EMI of Rs 98000/- PM. Rs. 450000/- has expended on tyres and Rs. 40000/- to 50000/- penalty on delayed service. You can estimate the burden imposed after purchase of PRIMA with these statistics. My financial planning and equilibrium has vanished with such an unfortunate and embarrassing experience with PRIMA. The resulted outcome from PRIMA in business is negative and this ended with loss in every month.
All defected released tyres are in my store and now I want replacement of all these. I can’t spend anything more on PRIMA. You are humbly requested to take-up the matter on your level and provide an fruitful solution to us. Please revert soon
For any query you can contact me 24×7.
