In what seems to be an interesting move, Tata Motors might go on a diet and shed some of its unwanted flab to phase out or re position non-performing models in its passenger car lineup. Tata Motors passenger car business has been down in dumps with sales of the Indica and the Vista down by almost 40%, whereas cars like the Aria sell in numbers that can be easily forgotten. Some variants of the Indica, Vista and the Manza are likely to be discontinued or re positioned following the ‘lean is mean’ theory.
Tata Motors is about to launch the Zest and the Bolt, which it is banking on heavily to succeed and attract larger volumes. As a measure to avoid clutter within segments, Tata Motors is looking at these measures. According to ETnow’s sources, Tata Motors is also mulling about relaunching the Safari and the Tata Venture.
We feel, we’d buy a Safari that drives all 4 wheels under ten lakhs any given day and We would love to see Tata Motors come up with some competition to the Thar. Maybe its too much to ask, maybe it isn’t.
