Tata Motors Gives Its Passenger Car Business A New Identity!

Tata Motors has given its passenger vehicle business a new customer facing identity called TATA.CARS. The new name will gradually become visible across showrooms, websites, service centres, marketing material and other places where customers interact with the brand.

The move gives Tata’s passenger vehicle range one common identity. Cars such as hatchbacks, sedans, SUVs and electric models will come under the TATA.CARS name.

What TATA.CARS Means For Buyers

The new identity is built around a name that people in India already use in everyday conversations. Tata Motors says customers have often referred to its products simply as Tata cars.

The company has now turned that familiar expression into its formal consumer brand.

  • TATA.CARS is the new customer facing identity
  • The promise attached to it is ‘Nothing’s Too Far’
  • It covers Tata’s passenger vehicle portfolio
  • It includes electric vehicles
  • Hatchbacks and sedans will also come under the identity
  • SUVs will be part of the same brand system
  • Retail and showroom branding will gradually change
  • Digital platforms will use the new identity
  • Service and after sales touchpoints will also adopt it
  • Tata’s vehicle badge continues with the familiar Tata design

A New Brand System

TATA.CARS also comes with a fresh visual language. Tata Motors has introduced elements called Parallel Pathways, Ambition Blue and Parallel Display.

Parallel Pathways takes inspiration from the shape of the Tata ‘T’ and road lines. The company says it represents different journeys moving towards progress.

Ambition Blue is a new take on Tata’s familiar blue shade. A new typeface called Parallel Display also forms part of the identity. Tata Motors has created a new sonic identity for the brand as well.

What Stays The Same

The new branding does not change the company’s legal structure. Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd will continue to be used for statutory filings, regulatory matters, investor communication, manufacturing plants and official contracts.

The Tata logo on vehicles also stays as it is. Existing product names and the company’s focus on safety, quality and engineering continue.
