The Tata Hexa was spied on numerous occasions after being showcased at last year’s Geneva Motor Show. The SUV was later showcased in its production form at the 2016 Auto Expo that took place in February 2016 in India. The Tata Hexa was also recently spied undisguised in Mumbai before flying to this year’s Geneva Motor Show. Now, news reports suggest that the Hexa is ready for a launch which is reportedly scheduled to take place in the month of June this year.
Powering the Hexa will be a 2.2 litre diesel engine borrowed from the Safari Storme VARICOR that will be tuned to produce 154 hp of power and 400 Nm of torque. Transmission duties will be performed by a 6 speed manual or a 6 speed automatic gearbox. A shift-on-the-fly 4WD system is also likely to be on the cards. On offer with the SUV will be four drive options – Auto, comfort, Dynamic and Rough road.

Aesthetically, the Aria’s slab sides have been replaced with chunky door claddings, dual-coloured wheel arches, 19 inch alloy wheels and a “floating roof” with D pillar cladding. Towards the posterior, the Hexa receives new horizontal two part tail lamps with wraparound signature LED lamps, a body-coloured integrated spoiler and roof rails.
Coming to the interiors, the Hexa receives a Harman sourced 5″ touch-screen equipped infotainment system, a JBL 10 speaker system with subwoofer and amplifier, an 8-way electrically adjustable driver seat and multi coloured ambient car illumination. Safety features include 6 airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD) and Corner Stability Control, Vehicle Dynamic Control, Traction Control System and Engine Drag Control System.
Once launched, the Hexa will compete against the Mahindra XUV500 and the Toyota Innova. The Tata Hexa is expected to come with a price tag of approximately Rs. 12-14 lakh when it arrives in the month of June this year.
