It’s no secret that the SWM Motorcycles, in partnership with Pune-based Kinetic Group, is planning to enter the Indian market. But the big question is ‘when’? According to motoring portal Autocar Professional, the first product will reach the Indian market by mid 2018. The first product that will enter India will be SWM SUPERDUAL 600 middleweight motorcycle.
The SWM SUPERDUAL 600 is reportedly undergoing homologation. The motorcycles will be imported via the completely knocked down (CKD) route and will be assembled at the Ahmednagar facility.
The purpose built motorcycle will be priced aggressively and rumours suggest it could carry a tag of under INR 5.5 lakh. Propelling duties will be performed by a 600cc, single cylinder, four valve, water cooled engine that will deliver 56.3 bhp of power. The engine will be paired to a 6-speed gearbox. Braking duties are handled by a 300mm front and 220mm rear disc, where both make use of floating calipers.
Hardware list includes USD front forks with adjustable rebound and damping, along with a Sachs rear spring which will be adjustable for pre-load. Spoke type 19″ front and 17″ rear wheels are wrapped in 110 / 80 and 140 / 80 Metzeler Tourance rubber.
There is no official statement from SWM or Kinetic Group yet but we hope to hear some details in the coming weeks.
