Suzuki Katana Launched At ₹13.61 Lakh

Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt. Ltd. (SMIPL) on Monday announced the India launch of the Katana. This street motorcycle was created under the ‘Forging a New Street Legend’ project. The launch of this sporty-looking ride in India pays a tribute to its legacy. First launched in 1981, The Katana has successfully provided the joy of riding to riders all over the world. The updated style and performance are aimed to provide a more comfortable ride and easy control in every scenario. According to the company, The development process of Katana closely resembles the arduous process of creating the Japanese sword from which the model’s name is derived. The front LED headlight sharpens the look of Katana while the rear is designed to stand out. With the price tag of ₹13.61 lakh, the Katana comes in two color options: Metallic Mat Stellar Blue and Metallic Mystic Silver

Powered by a 999cm3 four-stroke, liquid-cooled, DOHC, inline-four engine to producing 112 kW (152 PS) / 11,000 RPM power and 106 N-m / 9,250 RPM torque. It comes with a Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (S.I.R.S.)  to provide a variety of advanced electronic control systems. S.I.R.S. includes Suzuki Traction Control System (STCS), Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (SDMS), Ride-by-Wire Electronic Throttle System, Low RPM Assist, and Suzuki Easy Start System.  Suzuki Traction Control System (STCS) with 5 mode settings (+ OFF) provides a more diverse variety of riding conditions and styles. It has Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (SDMS) which offers a choice between three different modes that change output characteristics. The thoroughly tested driving modes of the Katana deliver optimized performance and a good driving experience. KATANA’s Lightweight Chassis provides agility and control.

The other features of Katana include Ride-by-Wire Electronic Throttle System to enable new electronic control systems, Low RPM Assist suppresses engine to ensure better control and operation in stop-and-go traffic, Suzuki Easy Start System to start the engine with one quick press, Upright riding position to provide control and comfort on longer rides, and a Multifunctional instrument cluster, which is fully LCD comes with adjustable brightness.
