Japanese motorcycle maker Suzuki has officially commenced the bookings of its new 155cc Gixxer. This new motorcycle is Suzuki’s attempt to woo the young audience who want affordable motorcycles with good looks.

Powering the Gixxer is a 155cc single cylinder, SOHC air cooled engine that develops 13.7 bhp of power and 14Nm of torque. Power is transferred to the rear wheel using a 5-speed gearbox rather than the 6-speed that’s found on Suzuki’s 150cc commuter motorcycle, GS150R. The bike employs mono-shock suspension at the rear, with front disc brakes and drum rear brakes. Tyre specifications are rated at 100/80/17 at the front and 140/60/17 at a rear.

The new Gixxer will be available in five colours: Metallic Oort Grey, Candy Antares Red, Glass Sparkle Black, Metallic Triton Blue and Pearl Mirage White. Suzuki will place the Gixxer against the new Yamaha FZ Version 2, Honda CB Trigger and Hero CBZ Xtreme. Suzuki has not given out any word on the expected date of deliveries of the motorcycle.

So will the Gixxer manage to get Suzuki a fair market share in the 150cc segment? Would you pick up a Suzuki Gixxer instead of the Honda CB Trigger or Hero Xtreme or Yamaha FZ? Share your thoughts and opinions through comments below.

  1. why not. when suzuki has implemented monoshocks ,better performance than rivals, better looks. only the pricing would be a major decision factor
