SPIED: Toyota Vios sedan snapped testing in Bangalore, should the Ciaz feel scared?

Toyota Vios spied in Bangalore

Although Toyota have confirmed that there will be no new launches this year for India, for the second time this year, the Toyota Vios has been spied testing in Bangalore. This time by twitter user ‘rangasub’. Perhaps being tested in Indian conditions for global corroboration, positioning wise, the Toyota Vios sits between the Etios and the Corolla sedan. It is already available internationally, powered by a 1.5-liter, VVTi, 4-cylinder petrol motor that develops 109 PS @ 6000 rpm and 141 Nm of torque at 4200 rpm. A 4-speed automatic or a 5-speed manual translate all that power to the front wheels.

If this sedan does see light of the day in India as a production model, expect the Toyota Vios to compete against the likes of the Maruti Ciaz and the Honda City. With the Toyota Hiace being the only new product that is expected to be launched in the premium commuter segment this year, Toyota might just throw a surprise at us next year if they launch this car in India along with the next-gen Innova and the new Fortuner SUV, given that the Etios isn’t exactly doing the numbers Toyota envisioned.
