It seems like the updated, more powerful Hero Impulse, whenever it is launched, will be welcomed by competition as Japanese two-wheeler maker Yamaha might be planning to launch its 250cc off-roader, called the Lander, for the Indian market very soon. At least that’s what the recent spy images are suggesting. The Yamaha Lander was reportedly snapped in India with absolutely no camouflage.
The Yamaha Lander is already available in the international markets. We checked for the specification of Yamaha’s Brazilian website. The Brazil spec model is powered by a 250cc, single-cylinder fuel injected engine that churns out 21 bhp of power and 21 Nm of torque and comes mated to a five-speed gearbox. According to the Brazilian website, the Lander has a massive ground clearance of 275mm which would come handy while going off-road. Shorter riders may have a difficult time in riding this motorcycle because of the seat height that stands at 875mm. The Yamaha Lander tips the weighing scale at 143 kg (wet weight) which should offer the Lander a decent power-to-weight ratio.
The Brazilian website lists the price of the Lander at 14,500 Brazilian Real which translates to approximately Rs 2.39 lakh but the source of the image indicates that this upcoming Yamaha off-roader will be priced at Rs 1.25 lakh (ex-showroom).

I feel the price of 1.25L for a 250cc is highly optimistic(from consumer perspective). I think it would be around 1.5 to 1.7L if it is launced(which is unlikely to happen in near future) .
