Ex-GM India President and current Tata Motors’ MD, Karl Slym, passed away in a freak accident in Bangkok. He was in Bangkok to attend the Tata Motor Thailand Ltd board meeting.
According to reports, Karl fell from a higher floor of a hotel in Bangkok. “The company shares the grief of Karl Slym’s wife and family at their irreparable loss,” Tata Motors said in a statement.
Expressing shock and condolences over the death, Tata Group chairman Cyrus Mistry said “I am deeply saddened to inform you about the untimely and tragic demise of our company’s Managing Director, Karl Slym. Karl joined us in October 2012, and was a valued colleague who was providing strong leadership at a challenging time for the Indian auto industry. In this hour of grief, our thoughts are with Karl’s wife and family.”
Before joining Tata Motors, Karl Slym headed GM India by holding the positions of President and Managing Director of the company between 2007 -2011.
Although not much details are available about the accident, we will update you as soon as some new information surfaces. May his soul rest in peace.
