It was a cold Delhi winter morning when Meer Taj Mohammed Khan, a 29-year-old Pathan from Peshawar, was walking along with his cousin near India Gate in Delhi. On their way, the duo came across a crashed vehicle which had turned turtle due to the impact with a roadside pillar. The occupants of the vehicle, a father and his three daughters, were trapped inside the overturned car. Without losing any more time, Taj Khan and his cousin pulled out the victims from the wreckage and took them to a nearby hospital.
The worse affected by the crash was a young lady, namely Lateef Fatima Khan, one of the daughters of the owner of the car. She had lost a lot of blood and had severe injuries on her body. Luckily, Taj Khan’s blood group matched hers. He donated his blood to save her life, took care of her for several days and eventually fell in love with her.
Thankful for his kind and humane act, Lateef Fatima Khan’s father asked Taj Khan to marry one of his daughters. To everyone’s surprise back then, Taj Khan chose Lateef Fatima Khan who was already engaged to someone else. Taj Khan’s persistence and charm won the approval of the young girl’s father, and they were soon married.
A few years later Lateef Fatima Khan gave birth to a boy who was destined to rule the Indian film industry, better known as Bollywood. Shah Rukh Khan, or King Khan, as the offspring of the duo came to be known as, became one of the best known actors not just in India, but anywhere in the world. One of the highest paid actors across the world, Shah Rukh Khan has appeared in Forbes India’s “Celebrity 100 list” in the years 2012, 2013 and 2015. Today the actor celebrated his 51st birthday and looking at him one can only say that age is just a number.
