Earlier today, we reported that it has emerged that the newly unveiled Honda CBR300R would be only a little more powerful than the bike it is slated to replace- the CBR250rR. Now, we have managed to dig out the power figures of the new bike.
The new 2014 Honda CBR300R has a single cylinder 286 cc engine that is based on the 250R’s motor. The new motor bestows the 2014 Honda CBR300R with max power of 30.8 PS @ 8,500 rpm and max torque of 2.7 kgm @ 7,250 rpm.
The new 2014 Honda CBR300R boasts of a diamond frame with struss structure and is likely to also sport a new swingarm. The Honda CBR300R will be available with C-ABS.
As we have been saying, the new 2014 Honda CBR300R would rival the recently launched KTM 390 Duke and would soon replace the CBR250R.
During the launch of the new bike, Seiji Kuraishi, Chief Operating Officer of Honda in China commented that the profile of the Chinese consumer is changing. “The motorcycle market in China, which is the world’s largest, has grown and diversified in recent years and the number of customers who use the bike as fun also increased. Therefore, Honda will start a new business focused on larger motorcycles”, he said.
Visually, the CBR300R looks more like a baby CBR500R than a bigger CBR250R. The 2014 CBR300R doesn’t sport the 250′s Y-shaped headlight and much like the 500R, comes with a twin headlights setup. Other changes include a considerably different front fairing and a new end can, which is visually similar to that of the CBR500R.
Safely expect the new CBR300R to come to us soon after its Thailand launch. Also expect it to be priced about INR 15000 above CBR250R, which would be discontinued.
