Rumour Mill : Yamaha FZ25 India launch reportedly scheduled on January 15

We have been expecting some announcement about a quarter-litre naked roadster from Yamaha for the Indian market. Now there is a lot of confusion about what’s brewing at Yamaha’s stable. While some reports suggest that the Indian arm of the Japanese two-wheeler maker is planning to introduce the MT-03, others suggest that we’d see a quarter-litre FZ in the coming weeks.

While we are yet to hear more official details on that front, latest updates about a new naked roadster surface from motoring portal Gaadiwaadi who claim that Yamaha will launch the new FZ25 in India on January 15, 2017. Based on data revealed by their sources, the motoring portal also states that the launch event will take place at the Buddh International Circuit. There is still no official statement about any such development yet.

A couple of test mules were caught testing in Delhi last month.

While we cannot pinpoint the model that will land on Indian shores, based on the test mules seen in Delhi, we believe that the upcoming motorcycle will be a FZ25. We believe that the new motorcycle will draw design cues from the MT-15 and MT-03 while you can see some elements that would resemble the 150cc FZ roadster such as the exhaust. The motorcycle, similar to current models, will don a muscular design. Propelling duties would be provided by a new 250cc single cylinder engine.

We’d keep you posted about all the updates. Meanwhile, share your views about the quarter-litre FZ motorcycle through the comments section below.
