Hyundai’s Creta has set the cash registers ringing since the time of its launch. The premium compact SUV clocked 1 lakh bookings in a span of 8 months. It also went on to win the award for the Motoroids Car of the year 2016. The Made in India model also went on to score 4 stars in the Latin NCAP test.

Now, to make this product from the Korean manufacturer’s stable even more successful, the company is reportedly working on an automatic variant for the petrol engine that could arrive soon. Currently the petrol mill is available with a manual transmission while the diesel mill receives both the manual as well as the automatic transmission.

Reports suggest that the 1.6 litre VTVT petrol mill will come mated to a 6 speed automatic transmission that would be available only in the SX+ trim of the premium compact SUV. For the diesel mills, the automatic transmission will now come to the S+ trim as well apart from the current SX variant.

Once launched, the automatic variant mated to the petrol engine will be a boon to urban users looking for a stress-free experience. The automatic gearbox in a lower variant of the diesel engine will make it more affordable to people opting for the diesel mill. While a second report suggested that the Creta would come with ABS and EBD as a standard feature on all variants of the Creta, another report went on to say that the Elite i20 will also come equipped with an automatic gearbox.
