Royal Mavericks, a Royal Enfield Motorcycle group in Delhi, organized the first ever Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride in India on 29th Sep in the capital. The ride consisting of 72 Royal Enfield bikes and over 113 participants was flagged off from FIO Kitchen & Bar, Mehrauli and travelled all the way to India Gate concluding at Radisson Blu, Mahipalpur. The riders were seen commanding there Royal Enfield for the ride and downing Formal, Retro & Indian traditional attire for DGR. The stylish formal look was for a cause to ‘Raise money towards battling cancer’ by Royal Maverick’s ‘Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride’.
‘Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride’ (DGR) is a unique motorcycle ride and event that takes place simultaneously across the world on September 29. This time it’s being done in 110 Cities across all continents. This year, New Delhi took part for the first time ever, hosted by Royal Mavericks – Delhi Royal Enfield Riders Group. The ‘Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride’ (DGR) was originally started by “cafe racer” motorcycle enthusiasts, who met together dressed up in very smart formal / vintage wear to match the iconic retro styling of their motorcycles, for a quick fun ride and to celebrate the stylish classic vintage look of a bygone era. It has since exploded into a worldwide phenomenon among vintage / retro / classic motorcyclists, and as a platform to raise money towards battling cancer. The DGR is a non-profit, non-commercial event that has evolved into a drive to raise money for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia. One can go to the website of DGR and donate.
Commenting on the successful ride Tarique Afaque, Founder of Royal Mavericks said, “It gives us immense pleasure and honour to conduct the DGR first time ever in India. We have been conducting various morning breakfast rides, sand evening dinner rides along with occasional rides like Independence Day Ride. The ride started from FIO Kitchen & Bar, Mehrauli and travelled all the way to India Gate following all the traffic rules with standard Rider’s Signals concluding at Radisson Blu, Mahipalpur. Royal Mavericks group also announced various prizes for the best dressed gentlemen, best dressed couple, best motorcycle, etc and concluded the successful ride which was for a cause.
