Roberto Merhi Continues with Mahindra Racing for Season 9

Mahindra Racing has announced that Spanish racing driver Roberto Merhi will be extending his term with the team for the remaining four rounds of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. Merhi made his debut in the Formula E series in Jakarta, where he showcased a promising performance. Following that, he had another opportunity to race with the team at the Southwire Portland E-Prix.

Now, Merhi will compete in the final two double-header events of the season, held in Rome and London. He will be behind the wheel of the #8 Mahindra M9Electro car, partnering with Lucas Di Grassi in the #11. The upcoming races in Rome and London present a challenge for Merhi as he is unfamiliar with these tracks. Nonetheless, he is motivated to quickly adapt and deliver an outstanding performance.

In addition to Merhi’s participation, Mahindra Racing has also decided to include their reserve driver, Jehan Daruvala. Since in the Rookie free practice test session in Rome. Daruvala joined the team at the start of Season 9 and has been present at various races, including Diriyah, Hyderabad, Berlin, and Portland. Notably, he achieved the third-fastest time during the morning session of the Official Rookie Test.

Mahindra Racing CEO, Fred Bertrand, expressed his joy in retaining Merhi for the remainder of the season, emphasizing the positive collaboration and progress made between the team and Merhi towards improving the car’s performance in the latter part of the season. Bertrand also highlighted the inclusion of Daruvala for the Rookie practice session in Rome, emphasizing the team’s focus on gathering valuable feedback from all their drivers.
