Renault Scala Undisguised Images. Launch Soon.

As we informed our readers earlier, Renault India, which is present in an alliance with Nissan, is close to launching its entry level sedan in Indian car market. To be named as Scala, the upcoming mid-sized sedan from Renault is a result of some badge engineering on Nissan Sunny. Basically, the Scala is as much a Sunny, as the Pulse is a Micra.

All this means that Renault has given a new front fascia to the Sunny with a new bumper, more stylish headlights, a sporty grille and of course, its badge. We find the Scala a bit more appealing than the Sunny and have already started dreaming of a low body kit for the upcoming car. At the rear end, the car gets a new design motif for the tail-lights, which again, look better than those on the Nissan sedan. On the inside, the car continues to bear a close resamblance to Sunny and the parent car’s traditional strengths of good interior space and decent quality of materials are present inside the Scala too. The new sedan borrows the engine options from the Sunny and hence, motors on offer continue to be the tried and tested 1.5-litre 84.8 bhp oil burner and the 1.5-litre 98bhp petrol motor.

The Scala will be priced a little higher than the Sunny and it remains to be seen if the success of Duster will rub off on to the Scala.
