We always knew that it is the Duster that will see Renault India laughing to the bank. It may be noted that the Pulse, which is essentially a rebadged Micra, doesn’t offers anything exceptional to bring the car buying junta to the Renault showrooms. On the hand, the Fluence sedan is not in a segment that generates large portion of the total sales in the market. Renault finally decided to jump into the sweets spot of the market by launching the Duster in the fast emerging mini-SUV segment. The terrific response that the new car has generated consolidates our believe that the European car maker would make it large with the new product.
We reported in detail on the occasion of launch of the Duster and we will soon be posting a full blown review after testing the car today. Meanwhile, the carmaker has bagged more than 6000 bookings for the new vehicle in less than a week since it has been launched. It may be noted that the Duster is the top selling SUV in Brazil and we won’t really be surprised if we see something similar in our market.Â
