Electric bikes have been emerging in India for the last 5-6 years. We have some companies who have taken strides in developing EV technology and maximizing range since bikes cannot carry huge battery packs. However, these products compromise either on speed, or performance, or are heavily priced. What if we told you that there is a motorcycle being developed by a new tech startup that will change the game in the EV two-wheeler sector? Well, read on to find out.
Projekt Maverick
Projekt Maverick is a code name for an electric bike that is being developed and tested for the Indian market. We currently are not at liberty to say who the company is but, we did get a sneak peek into the product spec sheet and can share the details with you.
The bike’s incredible range is one of its most impressive features. On a single charge, the battery can travel up to 500 kilometers, so you won’t ever have to worry about running out of juice while out riding. And with its quick charging capabilities, you can quickly resume driving. The bike is capable of 25 kW fast charging and can be charged from 0-100% in just 35 minutes.
Well, that’s not all, Projekt Maverick is incredibly fast, too, so it’s not just about range. This bike has a top speed of 160 km/h and can do 0-60 in just 4.5 sec. Which makes it ideal for thrill-seekers who like to push the envelope. You’ll also benefit from its cutting-edge electric motor’s smooth acceleration and immediate torque.
The Projekt Maverick motorcycle will not only perform admirably but will also have a modern, futuristic design. The body which is said to have a cutting-edge design and aerodynamic construction helps in limiting drag and puts up an impressive performance. Also, the saddle will be equipped with touring seats that will keep the rider comfortable for long riding hours. Finally, an electric motorcycle built for touring.
Well, we haven’t even got to the best bit yet, this motorcycle will be priced between ₹1.5 lakh to ₹2 lakh pre-subsidy. Now, that truly makes it a game-changer doesn’t it? Projekt Maverick will be revealed later this year on Sept 31st, 2023. So, keep your eyes peeled for news on its launch.
On April 1st! Sadly, Projekt Maverick is merely a creation of our imaginations. Although we may not yet have an electric motorcycle with a 500 km range that costs only ₹1.5 lakh to ₹2 lakh, we are getting closer all the time. We’re confident that electric motorcycles will become more capable and more affordable as technology develops. We’ll just have to daydream about Projekt Maverick until then, though.
