Honda made a lot of news when it first showcased the Concept C. Now, a heavily camouflaged test mule of the Honda Concept Cs production version has been spotted testing in China.
It may be noted that the Honda Concept C concept, which was presented at the 2012 Beijing Auto Show, has spawned a mid size sedan that will be unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show in April end.
The production spec Concept C will sit between the Honda Civic and the Honda Accord and will be manufactured by the Guangzhou-Honda JV in China. This is the same joint venture that also makes the China spec Accord sedan. The Concept C will be powered by a 1.8-liter petrol motor for entry level variants and a 2.0-liter petrol engine for high end models. The engines will be mated to a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed automatic transmission.
The new sedan from Honda will compete with the Qoros 3 sedan, Volkswagen Sagitar, soon to be launched Hyundai CF sedan and the Citroen C4L.
